Symptom: BMW E90 Remote key buttons completely unresponsive
- 1. Diagnostic Assessment
Before performing any invasive disassembly, we verified the issue using a dedicated RF signal tester. The key failed to emit a signal on any button press.
- 2. Internal Inspection
Unlike standard remotes with snap-in batteries, the non-comfort access BMW E90 key fob uses a sealed, soldered rechargeable cell (Panasonic VL2020). We opened the casing and measured the circuit voltage, which had dropped below 2V—well under the operating threshold.
- 3. Component Repair
We carefully desoldered the exhausted cell from the circuit board without damaging the adjacent micro-components.
After soldering in a fresh replacement battery, we retested the frequency output, every button responded instantly with full signal strength, returning a fully working key to a satisfied client at a fraction of the cost of a dealership replacement.
